「生活経済政策」2026年６月号に、連載「福祉国家で暮らしてみて——研究者・親・外国人としてのデンマーク生活」の第３回「豚選挙が問うもの」が掲載されました。

今回は、デンマークの食と政治の双方で存在感をもつ「豚」について書きました。2026年3月の国政選挙は「豚選挙（svinevalg）」と呼ばれ、豚の生産規模や動物福祉・環境基準の強化が争点となりました。地下水汚染、脱炭素、動物福祉、宗教・文化の論点が、一つの主題に絡み合っています。

選挙後は与党・社会民主党が議席を減らし、連立交渉は長期化しています。農業団体を支持基盤とする自由党が新政権から外れる見通しとなるなど、豚と環境をめぐる対立が政権の枠組みにも影を落としています。日本の「米」との比較から、この問題を考えました。

The June 2026 issue (No. 353) of Seikatsu Keizai Seisaku carries the third installment of my series “Living in a Welfare State: Denmark Through the Eyes of a Researcher, Parent, and Foreigner,” titled “What the Pig Election Asks.”
This piece is about the pig—a presence felt in both Danish cuisine and Danish politics. The March 2026 general election was dubbed the “pig election” (svinevalg), with the scale of pig production and tighter animal-welfare and environmental standards among its central issues. Groundwater pollution, decarbonization, animal welfare, and religious-cultural questions all converge on this single theme.
After the election, the governing Social Democrats lost seats and coalition talks have dragged on. With the Liberal Party (Venstre), whose support base lies in farming interests, now likely to be excluded from the new government, the conflict over pigs and the environment is shaping the very form of the next coalition. I consider the question through a comparison with rice in Japan.
